this cord is perfect for traveling. i use it in my car along with my usb cigarette lighter connector. it stores away very easily since it retracts into itself.

Having looked around at a lot of these retractable cables on Amazon, I was a bit concerned that I might not get the exact cable shown in the image. Rest assured that Eforcity sells exactly what is shown, the INSTEN black retractable cable with the iPod side connector that is very similar to the Apple version NOT the extra large beefy one you'll see on some of the competitors like ZIP-DATA. We'll see how well it holds up, but from what I can tell the retracting mechanism is the same that came with a standard USB Belkin model I have, and the cables and connectors look pretty comparable too. I'll post back if it craps out.

I agree with most reviews here that it is not the top notch quality built product... but, I bet most of us bought these for under $3! Now, all of a sudden, it's worth more than you paid! It works well with my iPhone 3G... it syncs, charges and works as intended. Just be very carefull when retracting/detracting and you should be fine! I will just be more aware to be more gentle with it to make it last long... THIS IS AN EXCELLENT BUY FOR THE MONEY!

Not the best in build quality (2009-05-21)
It serves the pupoe but the build quality is not top notch. I bought 2 connectors and the second one now has issues as the metal connector that goes inot the iPhone seems to go deeper into the plastic case and hence unable to connect with it easily.

iPod charging cord (2009-05-01)
works fine, only problem is that it's too short of a cord. Other than that I like that it retracts.
