Align Daily Probiotic Supplement Capsules, 28-Count Box

I heard about this product about three years ago when it was first introduced and was only available by mail. The price put me off, and I already was experimenting with other probiotics and have some success in controlling my IBS.

So when Align went retail and offered a $5 coupon to soften the blow of nearly a $1 a pill, I took the leap.

The first week was great. I felt almost immediate relief. My colon started to feel normal, something I hadn't felt in more than a dozen years. Then I had to go on a short series of powerful antibiotics and stopped taking Align until I finished the prescription meds including a couple of Diflucan to take care of the inevitable yeast infection from taking antibiotics.

I should mention that I took Align in the a.m. and a Digestive Advantage IBS in the p.m. and had better results from taking Align alone.

So I resume the Align and within a few days I have the word acid reflux and upper epigastric pain I can remember. It took me about three weeks to figure out the pain, gas (lots of gas), bloating might be related to Align. I did experience some gas when with my initial try of Align, but the second try was much, much worse.

I stopped taking it, went back to Digestive Advantage IBS and add Equalactin and am back to normal. Taking both appear to be more effective to me and cheaper than Align[...] the best I found for Align.

A side note: I was a little put off by the marketing and packaging of Align, especially the elaborate brochure. It all seemed expensive and a bit condescending.

Didn't work for me (2009-07-01)
I took this product for a month, but unfortunately, didn't get any sign of relief to want to continue. Maybe I needed to take it for a longer period, I don't know...I have IBS (C) and esophagitis...combined, my stomach has not been doing very well especially these past few months. Been taking Pantecta for the esophagitis, but the IBS is more tricky to control, so decided to give Align a try based on other reviews. Tried Accuflora-controlled Probiotic Acidophilus before that for at least 3 months and experienced no relief. I've now switched to Digestive Advantage's IBS capsules, as it's much cheaper and the box has 90 days' supply, which I believe will give me a long enough "trial" period...signed up for the automatic reorder in the hope that this will work...I guess with IBS, one has to try various products until you find one that works...will update in a few weeks

STOMACH RELIEF (2009-06-29)
I have been taking this product for close to a month and have been able to see a marked difference in the bloating and gas that I have had to deal with. My doctor recommended this product and it has (so far) been worth the purchase.

Cure for IBS (2009-06-28)
After suffering the effects of IBS for several months, my doctor suggested trying a probiotic as well as perscribing Nexium. The Align with the perscription has cured me. I tried using Nexium alone for awhile and it helped....but adding the Align was a 100% cure. I will take it forever.

So disappointed! (2009-06-24)
I bought Align with the blessing of a pharmacist and a $5 coupon. "This will be the answer to my digestive prayers!" I thought, eagerly reading the instructions. A little extra gas and bloating in the first few days? No problem -- I don't remember a time when I didn't have gas and bloating, I can handle it! So I forgave the first weeks' worth of added discomfort. The second week was much the same. Surely the third week would open the floodgates of relief I've been waiting for! Nuh-uh. By the fourth week, this sometimes bloated, gassy, constipated and crabby person became a full-time bloated, gassy, constipated and crabby person. Now I wasn't the only one suffering, so was my poor husband rubbing my swollen belly. The day after I stopped taking Align my bowels came back to life. Ironic isn't it? It sounds like Align has done wonders for a lot of people. I just wish I was one of them.
